CDs of the Fuinn

These CDs were originally intended solely as a memory device for people learning the tradition.  But you have asked us over and over again to make them more freely available – so here they are!

As well as the Fonn CDs, we have also made accompanying leaflets available for you. Each leaflet includes full lyrics with translations and phonetics, as well as an explanation of the meaning of each fonn.

People are very drawn to the fuinn (plural) these days. It’s as if, particularly in this time in our history, they seem to want to be sung! Merging the psyche of the chanter with the morphic resonance of the Céile Dé tradition, they are an ideal introduction to this spiritual path.
The various fuinn on these CDs are used to express sacred ideas or address blessèd beings, such as the spirits of the place and the Otherworld, the Ancestors, the Divine Mother, the Christ… and “Rúnda”… the Unknowable, Unnameable  Beyond….

Fonn 1, Sacred Chants of the Céile Dé

Many people have said that they feel this CD has some slightly shorter and simpler chants, so it would be a good choice if you want to learn them, but feel a little intimidated at the thought of chanting in Gaelic.

    This CD contains beautiful Gaelic chants that may be a little more of a challenge than FONN 1 to learn if you are a non-Gaelic speaker... However, you may find them more rewarding to simply listen to, when you are using music to create a sacred space.
