CDs of the Fonn

These CDs were originally intended solely as a memory device for people learning the tradition.  But you have asked us over and over again to make them more freely available – so here they are!

Each CD comes with a leaflet that includes full lyrics with translations and phonetics, as well as an explanation of the meaning of each fonn.

People are very drawn to the fuinn (plural) these days. It’s as if, particularly in this time in our history, they seem to want to be sung! Merging the psyche of the chanter with the morphic resonance of the Céile Dé tradition, they are an ideal introduction to this spiritual path.

The various fuinn on these CDs are used to address sacred beings, such as the spirits of the place and the Otherworld, the Ancestors, the Mother Goddess, the Christ… and the Unknowable, Unnameable  Beyond….

Many people have said that they feel this CD has some slightly shorter and simpler chants, so it would be a good choice if you want to learn them, but feel a little intimidated at the thought of chanting in Gaelic.

    Fonn 4 - Donation. Thank You!

    Céile Dé began to produce CDs of sacred chants for two reasons:

    - Firstly, so that people who were studying the Céile Dé tradition could have a learning aid.
    - Secondly, because so many people contacted us, asking if they could buy recordings of our chants.

    Almost every day people ask us, "when will you record another Fonn CD?" It cost Céile Dé six thousand pounds (approx $12,000) to record and print the first run of our three current CDs and accompanying booklets. After a year of selling our CDs we have still not recouped this initial expense. Whilst we do not expect to make a great deal of money from the sale of our CDs, we cannot afford to make a loss...

    Céile Dé will not be able to record another Fonn CD until we have recovered the costs of recording the previous three CDs. You can help us haste the day - if you are able to make a donation towards the recording and printing costs of "Fonn 4".
